Winter in Zauchensee – vacations that reach new heights!

From your bed to the slopes - in Zauchensee, the highest ski area in the Salzburg Sports World, you simply won't be able to resist and, before you know it, you'll find yourself quickly drawn up into the mountains. Once an insider tip for ski fans, the reputation of this wintertime pearl has long since become common knowledge around the world. Not least because of Michael Walchhofer himself: His rise as a ski star and World Champion is inseparable from his home town where, even to this day, he draws much of the strength and experience he needs in order to succeed on the world's most difficult downhill runs.

The winter season begins here much earlier than at many other ski centers.  The great snow conditions of the Zauchensee ski area, which ranges in elevation from 1350 up to 2188 metres, are legendary, with skiing possible even until well into May. A true paradise, boasting everything the heart of a modern winter sports enthusiast could possibly desire, just waiting to be conquered by you. Whether on the gentler slopes, on exhilarating downhill runs in the footsteps of World Cup aces, or out in the virtually boundless open countryside - there truly is something for every ability and taste.

You are sure to find your own favorite slope, though when you are faced with ski slopes and fresh powder, high speed or more leisurely skiing, carving and delightful refreshment breaks, the choices are never easy. Let us whet your appetite just a little: your ski mountains sport such names as the Gamskogel, Rosskopf and Tauernkar, all of which you will be able to reach in record time from the World Cup Arena in Zauchensee.

The Zauchensee/Flachauwinkel/Kleinarl ski areas encompass 16 lifts and 88 kilometres of slopes. 21 km of these are easy, marked in blue, while 45 km are intermediate (red) and 22 km  are expert (black). And each and every one of them is sure to captivate you !
